Lonnie is originally from California. He doesn't ask for much and he is a firm believer of the adage "it is better to give, than to receive." Lonnie demonstrates his purpose and good will through his work ethic. He is very humble, meek and practical.
Lonnie is very private about his past. He shared with Brother Ish about the struggles he faced a while back, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lonnie found himself homeless, living shelter to shelter, day after day. Through perseverance, Lonnie found Share Village. He dedicated his time and gave a lot of effort to helping others.
Sometime in October of this year, Share Village provided a homestead for Lonnie.
Brother Ish and others from Share Village have been volunteering alongside Lonnie, and because of his relentless hard work to help others, he was chosen as the perfect candidate to sponsor.
On November 16th, Brothers Of The Shield helped Lonnie with his rent. The payment will cover his housing until the end of December.
We would like to give thanks to Lonnie for his big heart and for letting us share his story
"At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done. We will be judged by ‘I was hungry and you gave me to eat, I was naked and you clothed me, I was homeless and you took me in.’ Hungry not only for bread — but hungry for love. Naked not only for clothing — but naked for human dignity and respect. Homeless not only for want of a room of bricks — but homeless because of rejection.”—Mother Teresa
